The 2023 Gaziantep-Kahramanmaraş earthquakes or 2023 Turkey earthquakes were two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.8 and 7.6 that occurred on February 6, 2023, with the epicenter located in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş. According to official figures, at least 41,000 people died as a result of the earthquakes in Turkey. After the earthquake disaster, there were more than 4,000 aftershocks in the region, some of which reached a magnitude of 6.2. According to official records, this was the earthquake that caused the highest number of casualties in the history of the Republic of Turkey. At least 7,000 buildings were found to have collapsed during the earthquake. After the earthquakes, at least 2 million people were left homeless and had to migrate to different regions.
