Change of Political Map in Europe (1914-Present)

In Europe, several monarchies were abolished and republics were established between 1914 and present day. Some examples of countries that transitioned from monarchy to republic include Russia, Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey. The political map of Europe changed significantly as a result of these transitions, with new governments and borders being established. With the fall of the Russian Empire in 1917, the Soviet Union was established as a communist state. Germany became a republic in 1918 after the fall of the Hohenzollern monarchy. Austria-Hungary was dissolved and several new countries were created, including Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. Turkey also abolished its monarchy in 1923 and established a republic. These changes greatly impacted the politics and social structure of Europe, and continue to shape the region to this day.
